What is Breakthrough Weekend?
A 2 day, 2 night event for Middle School & High School students to meet and grow in Christ. Youth groups from around Gwinnett and surrounding counties come together and have a weekend to help students experience a spiritual Breakthrough. The goal is for students to experience the power of God with their friends on a life-changing, fun and dynamic weekend. Formerly known as D-NOW, what started as just a few churches in our local community has quickly grown to over 1800 students in 2017.  In the last 7 years at this event there have been over 1000 students Say YES to Jesus!!!

Why are we doing hotels this year as opposed to host homes?
Safety. Safety. Safety. And convenience. The hotels are located right beside the hosting venue. It will allow students to have ample time to discuss weekend content. From a safety, point of view, each hallway will have adult supervisors who will be able to keep a watchful eye on students while at the hotel. There will be one hotel (Residence Inn) for guys and the other hotel (Courtyard Marriott) for girls. The hotels are within walking distance (there is no highway crossing) to the venue. This is very convenient. This will also alleviate the need to rent 15 passenger vans to transfer students back and forth from host homes after dark.

What does the cost cover?
3 sessions, 2 breakouts, block party, worship band (FRVR FREE), speaker (Brent Crowe) T-shirt; Food (Dinner Friday Night, Breakfast, Lunch, & Dinner on Saturday); Hotel for Friday & Saturday night, Sunday Morning Breakfast at hotel.

Will there be small groups? Yes, there will be small groups in designated hotel rooms. Immediately, following the large group sessions, students will head straight to their designated hotel/room with their small group and small group leader to unpack what was mentioned in large group. These are super important. Community happens in circles not rows.

Will we take phones up at night?
Yes, our student staff want to encourage your student to spend time talking and growing within their small group. Phones can be a distraction at night. We would actually encourage students to leave their cellphones home (to decrease the risk of them getting lost). Emergency contacts are in place for the weekend as needed.

Can my son/daughter bring extra money for the weekend?
Yes, there will be a Breakthrough Store there that will have extra merchandise for purchase. There will also be a coffee/milkshake/smoothie bar for students to purchase throughout the weekend.

Who will my son/daughter be rooming with?
They will be with 1 or 2 of their friends they request upon registration. There will be a form during registration that will ask for their potential roommates. This is not a guarantee but we will do everything we can put them in a room with a friend.

Can my son/daughter bring snacks?
Of course. This is a great way to make friends. Sharing is caring.

Can my high school son/daughter drive?
Your student can drive if they fill out a release waiver and driving form. They can only drive themselves plus siblings. All students will need to check in (to turn in all paperwork) at their Graystone campus at 5pm on Friday. They can then drive to the hotel. Upon arrival to the hotel, they must turn in their car keys to their student pastor. The reason for this is liability reasons.

How can I help?
To help cut the cost of the event, we need drivers to transport students from Graystone to the hotels on Friday evening, and from the hotels to Graystone on Sunday morning. If you’d like to help us drive, then email your student pastor. Upon contacting your student pastor, you will receive a response with both a driving waiver and background check questionnaire.
